THE “MIDI MONSTERS” HAVE LANDED
An Online Hip-Hop Radio Show for Producers by Producers
“Midi Monsters” is the first radio show of its kind dedicated to the art of hip-hop production, and its aim is to deliver an in-depth look into the evolution of hip-hop music and the varied elements of song making. Created by rising hip-hop producers Rena1ssance & Music Mystro and airing on www.dtfradio.com; the program intends to educate listeners, while providing exclusive content that will attract both casual fans, and hip-hop enthusiasts alike.
With years of industry experience under their belt, Mystro & Rena1ssance offer a unique perspective on past, current and future music trends. Music Mystro is currently a producer under Dame Grease’s “Vacant Lot productions,” and has supplied beats for notable acts like The Clipse, Dipset, Young City a.k.a. Chopper, Tek of Smif-n-Wessun, and industry legends such as LL Cool J, and Mary J. Blige. Rena1ssance has an equally impressive track record, and is currently the lead in-house producer for Y&I Music, and buzz-worthy rapper Esso. He has also worked with artists such as rapper Joell Ortiz, former Bad Boy R&B artist Nelson, and most recently he produced the single “Ready For War” for Chicago rapper CHI-ILL featuring hip-hop great Kool G Rap.
Together, the two beatsmiths feel as though they have an opportunity to reach a wide ranging audience due to the advancements in technology that have made the art of production more accessible to the mainstream. “The digital age has not only changed the way we purchase and listen to music, but it also has changed the way we make music,” stated Rena1ssance. “Software applications like Pro Tools, Logic, Fruity Loops, and Reason, have made it possible for virtually anyone with a computer to make tracks from home."
In merely a years worth of time the show already boasts an impressive roster of guest appearances from several multi-platinum and Grammy Award nominated producers such as DJ Scratch, Rockwilder, Kwame, Dame Grease, Darrel “Six Figga” Branch, Ty-Fyffe, Bink!, Baby Paul of “The Beatminerz”, !llmind, Jimi Kendrix, and Self Service to name a few. With a show that regularly features segments that focus on production techniques, emerging artists, and music history, the Midi Monsters hope that they can continue to be an outlet for both established and lesser-known talent for years to come.
